EQ2 Research Assistants, GU 52, Zam

The “Research Assistants” as they call it now will be an  home amenitie. Yes I just said house amenitie, I am hoping this will go live by the end of the year, But nothing has been said about the time table. Anyway the Research Assistants will take a lower spell, Say a adept III and turn it into a Master I for you. As to what this will take to get it done is being debated now on the forums. As of right now there is 62 pages of hate filled posting on it. People loving and hating on it.

I lik the idea of being able to get that one master that just will never drop, or it’s on the broker for 500 plat. I got a guild I run, And I don’t ask much from my guild mates, So I put most every thing I get into the guild.  For now there is no way I could come up with 500 plat any time soon. I am not a raider so the best drop’s are in raid’s as every one knows. So the idea of being able to get an adept or lowwer and start making it better an better is something I would like. Even if it takes a good month per to make, It would be something to look forward to.

Leave your permanent mark on the world of Norrath!

One of the upcoming features for GU52 is a new system that will allow players to write and distribute their own books in the world of Norrath. These books look and act just like the current books in the game. You can hold them in your inventory or place them in your house or guild hall for other players to read.

These user-written books can be obtained from a crafter and will start out blank. Any player can write in a blank book, but as soon as you write the first word you become the author of that book. From that point forward, only the author may edit the contents of the book.

The book window will display an “Edit” button whenever you read a blank book or a book you have authored. Clicking the edit button will reveal controls that allow you to enter text and see the layout from page to page.

There is no limit to the number of pages, but books are limited by the amount of text. A progress bar will let you know how much more text your book can hold as you are typing. There is also an auto-save feature that will periodically write the contents of the book to your hard drive in case of a crash.

When you’ve completed the book and you’d like to distribute it, you can make as many copies as you like. All you need is the original book and a blank book.  Right-click the original book and choose “Copy”. Your cursor will turn into an arrow allowing you to select the blank book in your inventory that you’d like to copy it to.

User-written books are tradable allowing you to give them to friends or place them on the broker. We’re really excited about this new feature and look forward to seeing your creativity!

 

Ummmm…….. OK, Well thats something, Not to sure if I care for this that much. I hope that maybe they will let people add there stuff to a site. Fan books can be very good, Yes you got to comb thru the shit to find good ones, But when you find a good it’s nice. Now will I do this ingame, Hell no. I would do it out of game and then copy the name down and buy it ingame for my home. But I will not just buy, Or just read player made books ingame. If I am in game I am playing not reading.

EQ2 (AB) Guild name: Insurrection

Hail, and well met my fellow adventurers.

 

I have had a blast in EQ2 sence my last blog. If you din’t read my last post, I got to blow off some steam at my older brother. This was great, As it let me get every thing out, I had let stress build up on me till I was not having any fun, and for the most part trying to make every one feel as bad as I did. Now I am loose as a goose, and just chillin’ with EQ2, and have a good time with my guild mates.

Let’s start this one off with letting you know what we have been up to in the guild as of late. Well this past saturday we hit guild level 40, and the last I looked we have around 20 accounts in the guild, I don’t count the ALT’s as members, just the accounts. Any way all the members are moving very well up the level tree. Most are all ready in there 60’s and knocking on the door to 70. I have had to tell them that the XP geiser will fall hard and they will start having to do the XP grind.

We have added a few more things to the guild hall and now we can all do crafters writs in the guild. We got the rush order writ giver, and the harvesting box. We also added the trash vender to the hall so we can sell our trash and play on the broker with out having to leave the hall.

We have 10 or maybe 15 guild level’s to go befor we can move into a T2 guild hall. I think we need to be guild level 50 to get it, but it could be 55. We still have time to look at that.

I am the only Leader of the guild now, I think I told you about that before, Any way still a very small guild, and we realy don’t need any officers right now. As we keep growing I will see who I would like to be an officer, and which ones want to take on the role of an officer. Just for right now we all play around the same time and all I have to do ask them what ever I need done and want done. We do have a few that play from the othere side of the world, but on my off days I get to play with them a good bit. Also it help’s that I have 3 days off a week.

 

Now as for me in the game, You all know me as Alik Steel, but in game most know me as Nat. My main toon’s name is Natako as most you know, but every one just call me Nat. I have dinged a few times and he is up to level 76 and has 109AA’s as a Conjurer. As you know I hit level 80 as a Carpenter months ago. I have 2 alt’s in the 40’s and one in it’s 30’s. I try to do as much as I can for our little guild, And that means I don’t do to much for me. So must times if I am on Nat, I have him mentored, witch does not pay well in plat or XP. What it does pay well in, Is the fun I have hanging out with my guild mates every night.

Just a side note, I almost never do pick up group’s because I never get what I want done out of it, and most times there is all ways that one person that seems to feel the need to tell some one in the group, How they should play there game. It burn’s me up when people do that. Now after saying that, I found myself in a pick up group yesterday afternoon in Lavastorm doing the high level faction quest. I got to tell you, That was some very cool people, Maybe after all this time, Just maybe people don’t feel the need to piss me off any more in a pick up group. It was great, Yes we leveled, But thats not what made it great. It was the fact that even when it went to shit, and we wiped out. Every one still had a great time.

 

As far as me in real life goes, I don’t know if I have said it here in my blog, But we(the people I work for) are keeping Mobile, So I will have a job(I hope) for one more year, till this starts all over again. I am stress free and back in the mood to write. So you should start seeing a lot more out of me soon. I also would like to apologize for not keeping up with my blog, and letting it come all most to a stop. I hope this will not happen again.

 

In my next post I will get back into letting you know what coming up for EQ2, Like having  books players can write in and sell on the broker. Does that sound fun to you? Well some people seem to think it will be. I may also talk a little about a new amunitie that may be in game by the end of the year.

Mount McDuffie exploded last night!!!

As my three readers know I have been real slow on my blog for the last month. The reason for this was that I was a bit down. Life has put a lot of crap on me, and I was pilling it all in and not saying much about it. Last night Mount McDuffie ( That’s me) Exploded last night all over my older brother. It realy had nothing to do with him, He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

My family is not what you would call loving. We are not the TV family, and we like to dig at each othere. The thing is, When you get teamed up on by the rest it can hurt bad. Well last night was one of them nights. The thing was, That no one knew how much crap I had built up in me. As you know I went over two months not knowing if I would have a job to go to the next day. Then you add me trying to stop smoking. Then the stuff that we all have put on us on a daily basis. As I said I bottle thing up inside with out doing any bitching at any one.

Then last night when I could not take any more I walked away, But this is when my older brother stepped into the wrong spot. He knew that I was mad and wanted to check on me. I din’t want any one to check on me.  Yes I know I was stupid, but I was mad, real damn mad and I did try to get away so there would not be any shit. My older brother doing what he does best tryed to let me know that they meant nothing by what they was saying. That’s when I exploded, I step up on him and yes, I was looking for any reason to swing. My older brother had been drinking a good bit last night, So he had to mouth off as well. The good news is that we never tied up and got into a real, knock you up side your head fight. We did tell each othere (Is tell the right word when we was only inches away from each othere, and yell at each othere) how little we thought of each othere.

It went on for only about five minutes, and we got a lot of stuff said in a very short time. My younger brother pulled my old brother from me and drove him home. Afetr they had left, It was amazing, I felt great after, I think I need that. I had to much shit built up in me and I needed to vent in a bad way. This morning my old brother called me up and wanted to talk,  I think he thought that I was realy mad. I had to tell him, That every thing I said the night before was not just at/about him. It was about the family, my work, and life. So as allways, We are ok.

 

So with all that out of me, maybe I can get back into this. Look out for new blogs soon…

Happy Easter, or is it Mary Easter? / Insurrection

I never know which way to say say it, happy nor Mary Easter sounds right to me. Do you realy want to say happy or mary before easter? It just don’t seem like it should go with what easter means. Holly Easter maybe a better fit.

But then I allways thought that we should say something like black friday or something, Instead of good friday.

No matter what you want to call it I hope you have a good one, and maybe take minute to think about what this day is about.

 

Now to let you in on what has been happening with me and our guild.

 

First off, I am not doing so well on that not smoking thing. Oh I have backed off big time and feel good about that, But I am still far away from not smoking at all. And the big news work is that GAT is keeping Mobile ,AL Airport for Delta. That means I have a job for another year, or that’s what I am telling myself. Anyway I keep my job, but the work my brother does, Just seems to not be coming back any time soon. Out of hundreds of people that does the same job as him, only 30 or 40 of them are working in, and around  Mobile(butt kisser’s). We are still real tight when it comes to money.

 

EQ2 (AB) Guild name: Insurrection

So we have had a few thing go down in the last few weeks, First off, Gulmuth my co-leader has stepped down from his leadership role. He is now one of our recruiters for the guild.

I allmost want to LOL when I think how this guild has went. I started this thing years ago, Back in 2005 for just a few friends. After that I have been talked into opening it doors a few times. This last time was my brother wanting a new place to play in. Gulmuth, Being our running bud, and friend came on out with us. I think, If it was not with’in the first hour, It would have been before we logged out that day, I asked Gulmuth to be a co-leader with my brother and I. My Brother main toon and the one he had me open the doors of the guild hall for. Was gone and in a new guild in lass than 2 months. Every one who came with us that first week has left. Othere than my brothere’s ALT’s and Gulmuth we are all that is left of the few that wanted to make a great guild.

Now don’t take me wronge I understand why each and every one of them left, or in Gulmuth case, Stepping down out of the leadership role.

 

As far as the main guild goes, We are doing very well. We are growing, Slow but we are growing. We have yet another guild web site and I hope this one will stick for some time. We are allso playing around with Vintrilo for our voice chat, I hope that SOE can get Vivox to get there ingame voice chat working better than it has been. We have become a level 37 guild and with 20 people in the guild. Allmost half of them are on every day and the othere’s make it more than a few times a week. We have started adding about 2 members a week. I know that does not sound like a lot, but we want people that play and group with each othere. Not just be a number in the guild, And with a slow build up to the guild we all get to know each othere.

I was Role Playing before I played D&D, or MMO’s

Dungeons & Dragons was first published in 1974. My first story starts in 1979

I was around 10 years old when I got my honda 50cc motorcycle. I remeber my dad saying something to me as I was trying to get at it. He kelp saying thing to me till I said “yes sir”. This was what he must have wanted to hear, Because thats when he let me at it. I jumped on and kicked started it, I had never been on a motorcycle before, But that din’t stop me from taking off on it. My dad made me ride around in the yard for a little bit, till I had the gears down. The neighborhood I lived in was a little over 35 acre’s big. With my dad still standing out in the yard watching me, I went down the road, Two homes down from ours was a hard left turn that was the top of the hill. As soon as I was out of eye sight,I din’t know at the time I was by no means of being out of hearing range, I droped the hammer on the 50cc and was flying down the hill. as I made two more turns I knew that my dad would be able to see me again, I slowed down, And turned around. As I got back out of eye sight I opened it up again. As I toped the hill and made the turn I could see my dad standing in the road wanting me to park it. Our home had a wrap around driveway. So I passed him trying to look as if I din’t know why he wanted me to park. As I turned into our driveway I found out that I was going way to fast and the little pop up from the road to our yard, Ramped me into the air, and I lost it. As I was hanging on for dear life, I had pulled harder on the throttle and was picking up speed as I headed for the fence. I did the only thing I could think of. I layed it over on it’s side, And the bike and I went under the fence. My bike went into the yard and I got hung up under the fence. I would be a week before my daad let me ride my bike again.

 One of my best friends that lived right down the road from me allso got a honda 50cc motorcycle that christmas in 1979. CHiPs had been playing for about 2 years and my friend and I had started to patrol our neighborhood every day after school. Side by side we rode our bikes just like our heroes from the show did. We would even pull people over if we thought that they was going to fast. Our neighbor’s was very cool and non of them pop our bubble. I do remember we did not make many friends that year, but we had a blast role playing as CHiPs.

That was the start of my RPG playing. I had always played games, but only after the sun went down and my mom made me come in, or It was raining and my mom made me come in, or I had been bad and my mom made me come in. I even had D&D on my intellivision but even with my out side role playing, I never played the D&D as a RPG. It was just something to be done, When I could not do what I wanted to do. Now even as I role played out side, I did not see it as role playing. It was just fun playing like I was someone else.

 

                     

 

 

This is something that no one should ever do. Do not try this at home or any othere place. This was done by a bunch of dumb ass kids and should have never been done at all.

Ok so after being a good guy for a year or so, I went to the dark side. I joined my older brother’s army. Ok so it was like 8 of us, But that what we called it. I was the scout in the army. Back then I was real small, and could sneak around very well. Any way after some time we started taking our BB guns with us. On one outing we was cuting thru another neighborhood and I was scouting ahead, When I ran across a big group of kids. They allso had BB guns.  I went back at a flat run and told my brother that I had found some kids with guns. We was in a small area with woods so we came up on them slow and where they could not see us. The othere group of kids was near another small group of trees. I did not no it at the time, but with help from my older brother, we was all about to take role playing to a new high. He shot one of the the bigger kids in the leg. The boy yelled and pointed into the woods as he told his friends where the shot came from. In know time at all BB’s was flying over our heads. I was hit 5 times myself. Not one BB penetrate the skin. I had hurting little red marks, but that was about as bad as any one had it.

How no one lost an eye I will never know. The bad thing is, We all had such a good time having BB gun wars. We started to have one every friday for a few months, till some one’s mom busted us.

 

I think we all have been playing RPG’s for most of our life.  Life here in the states is nothing but RPG’s. Take dating, A date is a big RPG, What? you don’t think you RPG when you go out on your first date? Bull shit, You RPG, Even if you don’t know it. There is very few people who act like themself on there first date. Must people add/take a little layer to/from there story to make themself sound a bit better.

 ” Oh no, I’m not a player”,

“I never fight”,

” No thank you, I only want a salad”,

“No, I’m not much of a drinker”,

and so on. This is all RPG, She knows and you know that it’s all bull shit, But we all play along with it.

 

After my 20 or so years of life, Other than dating I had lost a lot of my role playing self, Till one day when my younger brother got a copy of EverQuest. He never even played it, It was taking to long to download, I never thought playing with a bunch of people would be that fun.  After a few months, My best friend and young brother was home and so was I, I slid the EQ disk into my new PC, and started downloading it. After two days, yes two days, We had dail up. It was updated and ready to play. My brother and best friend was there and we was just bull shitting around when I started it up and started making my first ever MMO characters. After that we all had to take turns on the game. for the next two days we took two hour turns. After that, My friend and I ran out and got our on EQ games.
